  Monotypes

Monotypes are unique prints that cannot be replicated.  After the plate is inked, designs are created by blocking the ink with elements, layering ink and creating textures.  Ink is blocked and textures created  with elements such as plants, gauze, string, lace, paper and anything interesting that can be run through the press.  Once the print is made, the image on the plate has changed because some or most of the ink has been transfered to the print.  Because of this, another run through the press could not be the same as the original.
